2025-04-15The trick to all methods is to use the java.exe built into the UniFi software, NOT the Adoptium version recommended by Ubiquiti. They are confused. You don't need to install a separate software. You don't need to mess with the JAVA_HOME variable. As long as you specific the commands exactly as shown below, it should work. Tested and confirmed working on a new Windows 11 computer.Method 1: Using a Traditional Windows ServiceOpen PowerShell as Administrator.Navigate to the UniFi installation folder:Set-Location "$ENV:USERPROFILE\Ubiquiti UniFi"Install the UniFi Network Controller as a service:.\jre\bin\java.exe -jar lib\ace.jar installsvcStart the service:.\jre\bin\java.exe -jar lib\ace.jar startsvcRemoving the Service (if needed):If the service malfunctions or needs to be reinstalled, uninstall it using:.\jre\bin\java.exe -jar lib\ace.jar uninstallsvcTest:Wait a minute or two, then open... 2: Using Task SchedulerOpen Task Scheduler:Option 1: Press Win + R, type taskschd.msc, and press Enter.Option 2: Open the Start menu, type Task Scheduler, and select it from the search results.Navigate to Task Scheduler Library:In the left-hand panel, go to Task Scheduler (Local) > Task Scheduler Library.Create a New Task:Click on Create Task… in the right-hand panel, or right-click in the middle panel and select Create New Task….Configure the New Task:General Tab:Name: UniFi Network ControllerSecurity options: Select Run whether user is logged on or not.Triggers Tab:Begin the task: At startup.Advanced settings: Enable the checkbox for Enabled.Actions Tab:Action: Start a program.Program/script: Browse and set the path to"%UserProfile%\Ubiquiti UniFi\jre\bin\java.exe" - Add arguments:-jar "%UserProfile%\Ubiquiti UniFi\lib\ace.jar" uiSettings Tab:Enable:Allow task to be run on demand.Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed.Uncheck all other options.Test the Task:Restart your system.Once running, wait a few seconds and make sure you can access the UniFi interface: following either of these methods, you can run the UniFi Network Controller as a persistent service on your Windows system.
2025-03-31February 2025 - "I WANt it all" For this episode, Alex and Evan are back to talk everything Ubiquiti once again. The recording of this episode was planned well, as a few hours before, Ubiquiti announced a suite of new gateways, including the UCG-Fiber, UXG-Fiber, Dream Router 7 and Express 7. Also discussed are the upcoming UWC events in May, Wave MLO5, SuperLink and UniFi 9.1, which adds expanded multi-WAN support! We also have an ad-free premium version of this show available on Apple Podcasts. That will help support this episode, as well as future podcasts from the interface. Expanded Show Notes Watch the episode on YouTube October 2024 - "Officially Overwhelmed" Alex and Evan don't have a guest with them this time, but it is safe to say that October 2024 has been the busiest month for Ubiquiti news in a very long time. In this episode is the (deep breath) UNAS Pro, UniFi Drive, UISP Wave MLO, the end of free UISP hosting, UMR Ultra, UniFi Device Bridge, UniFi Enterprise Campus Switches, UniFi Network 8.5.6 and much, much, much more. We also have an ad-free premium version of this show available on Apple Podcasts. That will help support this episode, as well as future podcasts from the interface. Expanded Show Notes Watch the episode on YouTube Charging Status is a monthly show focussing on the latest EV and charging news. Hosted by Alex Lowe (the interface) and Jim Starling (DefinitelyNotAGuru on YouTube) A show which talks to creators about what they make and do. Hosted by Alex. Just getting started using Ubiquity products. Great podcast talking about all things UI. I wish there were more episodes! Keep up the great work! I love Ubiquiti and I find this show interesting. I’ve been using the UniFi line for years and recently started a small MSP venture using Unifi products. My biggest gripe with Ubiquiti is that it can be hard to find information about their products. For as great as their stuff is their documentation can be rough. Maybe I’m in the minority but I’d be interested to hear
